History

In 2011, the founding members of Open Eyes began ministering in the Woodlawn area of Birmingham through neighborhood outreaches. These events spawned many relationships with surrounding neighbors. Through block parties, construction projects, small groups, and outings, a connection was made to a neighborhood in need of hope. As the outreach grew, other neighborhood locations were added and eventually operated by the local church. With the neighborhood outreach in good hands, the members felt led to dig deeper into the issues that plague the inner city. In 2015, Open Eyes was formed to help break the cycle of generational hopelessness through new experiences, education, and the gospel of Jesus Christ. Through the past four years we have intentionally invested in a group of students through monthly outings. We are excited to see the next steps our students take as they grow in Jesus and as they seek new opportunities, both educational and professional.
